Chadwick Boseman's Wife Simone Honors Late Actor on His Birthday: 'Happy Birthday, Angel'

Simone Ledward Boseman is honoring late husband Chadwick Boseman on his birthday.

On Wednesday, the singer shared two throwback photos of herself with Boseman on Instagram to mark what would have been the late actor's 47th birthday.

"when i talk to God, i thank him for the time. happy birthday, angel 💜," Simone wrote in the caption.

Boseman's Black Panther costar Lupita Nyong'o also honored him for his birthday, writing on Instagram: "Marking the birthday of a heroic friend. I am blessed that his time on this earth coincided with mine."

The actor died of colon cancer in August 2020 at age 43. He had been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and kept it private for four years as it progressed to stage IV.

Simone, who performs as sahn, told Vibe in October about creating her record The Mornings after the death of her husband.

"I see signs from Chad all of the time. Sometimes they’re much more subtle, but it’s that process of figuring out how you now embrace this new relationship that you have with this person — one that’s now only a spiritual relationship and how you now communicate with them and [vice versa],” she said.

The artist added that Boseman "changed my life."

"Knowing him and loving him changed my life. Losing him changed my life. I think that 'sahn' is how I move forward, how I forge a path that is my own," she explained.

She added, “Taking everything that I learned and how I was influenced by his legacy is how I’m able to move forward and to continue to carry his spirit with me in my own work.”

“I know that being his wife is a badge that I wear with honor, something that I wear with pride. It is always that honor to represent him in any space," said Simone.
