After hinting around that he's the mastermind behind CeraVe while chatting with Bobbi Althoff on "The Really Good Podcast," Michael Cera is being called out by the skincare brand in an attempt to set "the record straight."

The "Superbad" actor, 35, has been spotted all over social media, and even on the streets of New York City, with CeraVe products, but the company wants everyone to know the truth about his involvement.

Cera seems to want the world to believe that he's got something big to do with the popular skincare brand, but CeraVe has something different to say.

"Setting the record straight. #CeraVe #DevelopedWithDerms," a statement by the company is captioned on Instagram.

The brand wants fans to know that Cera has NOTHING to do with their products by denying his claims, and "wish him well."

CeraVe's Instagram followers seem confused about exactly what's going on, but there here for the fun of it all.

"Lol this seems like a non issue 😂," one person wrote in the comment section. "So scandalous 😂," wrote another.

One follower hilariously blamed Althoff for all the chaos surrounding Cera and CeraVe writing, "I love how chaotic @bobbialthoff makes the world 😂."

Another person wanted to help clear up any confusion about just what's going on by adding, "For those who have no idea what’s going on. Michael Cera (the guy from Juno) posed in pictures with some of these creams. Now people think he created the brand because his last name is Cera and the brand name is Cerave. Not a big deal."

During a recent episode of Althoff's popular podcast, Cera made some subtle but confusing claims about the skincare brand.

"You claim you started that," Althoff said to Cera about CeraVe. He responded, "I don't claim that but if you look at my name, my name is Michael Cera. I just say look at the name."

He continued by explaining that other people say he started the brand and he continued to somewhat dance around the topic in a way that just further fuels the rumors.

"I like to just say I have some skin in the game and kind of leave it at that. I do use CeraVe. I think it's a fine product and I think it's very hydrating," he continued. "There are three essential ceramides in it and a series of nourishing lipids, and I think it's a fine product but that's as far as it goes, as far as I'm willing to say."

Althoff asked Cera how he knows all of that information and he said he doesn't know why, but he's "come to know that." He then tried to change the subject saying he would like to "talk about a wide range of other things, not just my product, I mean, not just CeraVe."

Cera admitted that there are rumors floating around in regard to his involvement with CeraVe, and said he "can't be held responsible for every rumor." He then told Althoff that she will "experience it when you start a product one day."

So where does this all leave fans who are wondering what's going on with Cera and CeraVe? In the same exact spot - confused but entertained!
