Nov. 3—Centralia College's fall production, "Stop Kiss," opened Friday, Nov. 3, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Wickstrom Studio Theatre.
The non-linear, contemporary drama by Diana Son follows two "friends of friends" who "instantly form a bond" when they meet in New York City in 1998.
"As their friendship is on the verge of blossoming into more, they are changed by an act of violence," Centralia College states in the show description. The college calls the show "a poignant story of female friendship and strength."
The show is sponsored by the Associated Students of Centralia College. There are content warnings for strong language and adult situations. Run time is approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
"I was initially drawn to this play because of its poignant scenes, which plum the depths of human relationships," director Emmy Kreilkamp said in a written director's note included in the show's program. "My acting and directing students have chosen scenes from 'Stop Kiss' for many years, because they provide actors with the opportunity to explore vulnerability on stage. The work also offers insights into the complexities of love, especially when that love is accompanied by a family's rejection or a society's scorn."
Showtimes are 7 p.m. Nov. 3-4 and Nov. 9-11 and 2 p.m. Nov. 5 and Nov. 12. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults. The Nov. 5 and Nov. 10 shows will be livestreamed on YouTube.
The Wickstrom Studio Theatre is located in Centralia College's Washington Hall at 715 W. Pear St. in Centralia.
