Central Ohio indie rock duo, Bird and Byron, eyeing to win Nashville competition with local support

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A pair of New Albany High School grads now based in Nashville are working to make their musical dreams come true.

Blake Bergere and Nick Lorenz are an indie rock and soul duo known respectively as Bird and Byron. The two have been climbing the ranks of a music bracket competition called Music City Mayhem.

The annual contest put on by a Nashville radio station began with 32 challengers and is now down to the top eight. Fans can vote for the central Ohio twosome on the station’s website.

If the artists make it to the final four they will perform in a live showcase at Nashville venue 3rd and Lindsley on April 25.

The winner will receive a “trophy and join the ranks of some of Nashville’s best emerging and established acts,” according to the contest page. Additionally, the crowned musicians will be awarded an “extensive artist development and promotion package” including several “perks.”

Friends from childhood, Bird and Byron are also embarking on a multi-state tour beginning in June. The Bird and Byron “Stay By My Side Tour” will make a local stop at Ace of Cups on North High Street, on Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
