Coming off the Oscar Best Picture nominee Past Lives, Celine Song is gearing up for her next project The Materialists, which A24 is taking to the European Film Market for sales.

The rom-com is attracting A-list talent with Dakota Johnson in talks, and Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal circling.

More from Deadline

Past Lives producers Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler of Killer Films and 2AM’s David Hinojosa are behind the project, which Song also scripts. The team is aiming to start as early as this spring.

Plot details have been kept under wraps, but we hear it deals with a professional matchmaker who gets involved with a wealthy man but still harbors feelings for the broke actor-waiter she left behind.

We’re hearing positive things about this one from EFM buyers who are sparking to the material. Some saw the genre as a risky change of direction for Song after Past Lives, but the buyers we’ve spoken with are into it, and it will be one of the buzz packages of the market.

The project is still coming together and it’s not clear if there are other financiers at the table. The buzzy elements mean partners could be close.
