Tuesday, Jan. 14 marks four years since Celine Dion lost her husband, René Angélil.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the beloved singer penned a brief tribute to her late beau alongside a sweet photo of him cuddling a golden retriever.

"There is not a day that goes by without me thinking about your beautiful smile," she wrote alongside the photo. "We miss you, thank you for watching over us my love. I love you. Céline xx"

She also wrote the message in French, their shared first language.

Angelil suffered several serious health issues throughout his life, including a heart attack at age 49, a throat cancer diagnosis a few years later and a heart-related issue that required surgery a decade after that. His throat cancer would eventually return, and he died of the disease in January 2016 at age 73.

The couple shared three sons, 9-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy as well as 18-year-old René-Charles. Dion has spoken candidly about her children's adjustment to life without their father, saying in 2017 that she told her oldest son to mature at his own pace.

"I said to him, 'I never want you to feel the pressure of being the man of the house, you have your own dreams and he is always with you in your heart, and I am here for you,'" she told Extra at the time.

Although she continues to mourn, Dion says she remains open to the possibility of finding love again.

"Rene will always be with me, but I'm not in pain," she told ET in 2019. “Let go of the pain. Say yes. Say yes for dance. Say yes for friendship. Say yes for love maybe one day. I don't know."
