Celine Dion breaks down crying about health battle in new doc trailer: ‘The people — I miss them’
Sidelined by a rare neurological disorder, Celine Dion opens up about her changed life in the trailer for the new documentary “I Am: Celine.”
“The people,” she says with tears in her eyes. “I miss them.”
In 2023, Dion, 56, said that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome. Affecting about one in 1 million people, the little-known condition causes severe, debilitating spasms that make muscles feel hard.
As a result, the singer was forced to scrap all her tour dates.
“It’s not hard to do a show. It’s hard to cancel a show,” the “My Heart Will Go On” chanteuse says in the trailer for the doc that debuts on Prime Video June 25.
“I’m working hard every day. But I have to admit it’s been a struggle. I miss it so much.”
Dion then emotionally adds, “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. But I won’t stop.”
The clip briefly shows some of the Canadian performer’s physical therapy sessions, along with candid interviews and archival footage of her decades of popular concerts.
When she announced the doc in January, Dion explained in a statement that she felt it was important to capture her journey during this difficult time.
“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” the “Power of Love” songstress said.
“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.”
She added: “During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”
