Celebs react to Texas shooting on social media: 'My dreams have become nightmares'
On Sunday, a Texas man opened fire inside First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, killing 26 and injuring 20 others. The victims — from ages 1 to 77 — made up 4 percent of the small community located about 35 miles outside of San Antonio.
Upon hearing the devastating news, celebrities took to social media to express their sadness and prayers for those whose lives were lost and their families. From Miley Cyrus to Britney Spears, here are some stars who spoke out about the tragic event.
Miley Cyrus
The pop star took to her Instagram more than once — to discuss mental health and to share her disagreement with President Trump.
“My dreams have become nightmares & those nightmares , reality … This isn’t fair , this isn’t right , this isn’t just , this isn’t human!” she wrote in part. “This is a TERRORIST act by a WHITE AMERICAN MAN! I am heartbroken & embarrassed. Mortified by our country & its sh**** system , lack of control/laws! This does NOT HAVE or NEED to happen! It’s devastatingly disgusting!”
After some Twitter users took issue with her comments, particularly the part about the shooter being a “WHITE AMERICAN MAN,” Cyrus stood her ground.
Eva Longoria
The actress, who hails from Corpus Christi, Texas, shared a “Pray for Texas” post with the state’s flag in the background. She wrote, “I’m heartbroken over the shooting in my home state of Texas. In a church? What next? Gun violence must stop NOW!!!”

Prayers are what the victims were doing. If you respond to these attacks with prayers but no action, you are protecting the next murderer.
