Celebs React To This Controversial Airline Ban On Leggings
Categories (Hidden) / Celebrities
Yesterday a passenger took to Twitter to share the reason two teenagers and a 10-year-old girl were not allowed to board a flight—and the Internet went crazy. That’s because the three were preparing to leave Denver for Minneapolis when United Airlines turned them away for wearing leggings, which the airline deemed inappropriate for travel.
1) A @united gate agent isn’t letting girls in leggings get on flight from Denver to Minneapolis because spandex is not allowed?

2) She’s forcing them to change or put dresses on over leggings or they can’t board. Since when does @united police women’s clothing?

United explained that the three girls were “pass travelers” flying on comped or discounted tickets, and the airline has the right to refuse transport for passengers “who are barefoot or not properly clothed.” Naturally, celebrities (and leggings aficionados everywhere) had a few things to say about this dress code.
I have flown united before with literally no pants on. Just a top as a dress. Next time I will wear only jeans and a scarf.

Hey @united I fly a LOT. About to go on tour all April and changing all my @united flights to other airlines

.@united I have flown numerous times while displaying an egregious mooseknuckle. What’s a male over 10 have to do to get noticed?

We here at @united are just trying to police the attire of the daughters of our employees! That’s all! Cool, right? https://t.co/xGyL4IAslE

Turns out United bans leggings, torn jeans, and shorter shorts for free employee pass tickets. Still @united should update policy.

United continues to defend the actions of its gate agents, but the company also released a statement informing regular customers that their leggings are welcome aboard. Well, how’s that for customer privilege?
