After a California Sheriff’s Deputy and the mother of Sandlot actor Marty York was found murdered, some of his fellow actors and former co-stars have rallied around the man who played Alan “Yeah-Yeah” McClennan in the beloved movie.

Deanna Esmaeel was found dead in her home Thursday morning, and shortly after the Del Norte Sheriff’s Office announced that it was searching for her boyfriend, Daniel James Walter. He was arrested Friday in Oregon. Authorities have not yet announced any charges against Walter.

"I found out from the sheriff department last night that my mother was murdered," wrote York in an Instagram post, in what he described as the “hardest post I’ll ever have to write.”

York subsequently commented on the post, “I want my mom back 😭😭😭.”

York, in addition to starring in The Sandlot, was in three episodes of Boy Meets World and the stars of the show offered kind words to the grieving actor.

“Marty, this is unreal,” wrote Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga. “A true nightmare. We love you and I hope justice is served FAST.”

Rider Strong, who starred as Shawn, also offered support.

“Devastating. I’m so sorry, buddy.”

General Hospital actor Jacob Young also commented on York’s post.

“Oh Marty, I’m so sorry to hear this,” Young wrote. “My wife and I are sending prayers and pray that they get this man and prosecute him to the maximum. Love you brother.”

Natanya Ross, star of The Secret World of Alex Mack and close friend of York’s, wrote a heartfelt comment as well.

“I love you so much,” she wrote. “We’re gonna get through this together.”

In 2021, Esmaeel was sworn in as a deputy with the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office, and the office documented the ceremony on its Facebook page at the time, alongside an image of her swearing in.

"In 2016, she saw a recruitment flyer featuring a female law enforcement officer and decided it was time for her to make her lifelong goal a reality," the post said.
