Have you ever wondered how Demi's skin always looks amazing? She has an amazing esthetician, Renee Rouleau, who has tips to have your skin looking at its best in the Fall
Time for a New Cleanser
Your cleanser has to change to deal with the weather. This means the gel and foam cleanser you used in the Summer does not apply anymore. She recommends "a non-drying, sulfate-free gel cleanser in the morning and a lightweight, lotion-based cleanser at night". The gel is too drying in the Fall, but the lotion based cleanser will melt off the makeup and keep your skin hydrated. If you plan on using a gel based cleanser, use one that is PH corrected to prevent the damaging of your skin barrier.
Hydration is a Must
Hydration. Hydration. Hydration.
It is normal to slather a thin layer of lotion on the skin during the Summer where the humidity will do most of the work to keep your face hydrated, but the Fall chill requires more hydration. Ronlaeu says, “Many people overlook toners in their skincare regimens. If you aren’t already using one, now’s the time to start".She has spoken. Toner seems to be a new product and most people have a hard time incorporating toners because they do not see the value. However, a hydrating toner can have a lot of benefit for the skin as you will need all the hydration to combat the potential damage from having dry skin.
Do I Need a Heavier Moisturizer? Yes
This is the time to take out the moisturizer that you put away because it was too heavy for Summer. This will be the thing you will need to save your skin from dryness and flaking. A heavier moisturizer on top of the toner will continue to add hydration to the skin and in some cases seal it.
Renee says, “A lightweight moisturizer is enough for most skin types in the summer, but when the weather begins to cool down, it is important to apply something a little heavier to prevent moisture loss". Moisture is an important goal during the Fall. If the skin is hydrated, then the skin will look its best.
