All the celebrity cameos in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
To quote another space epic from a long, long time ago: My God, it’s full of stars.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a bunch of previously unannounced famous names in its cast, including some that have doubtlessly not yet been revealed (and will be added to this list as they are). Here’s who is known to appear in the film so far…
***SPOILERS BELOW***
Jodie Comer: The Killing Eve actress is glimpsed in the film playing Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) doomed mother. Rey’s father is played by Dunkirk actor Billy Howle.
Lin-Manuel Miranda: The Hamilton composer and actor wrote a song for the soundtrack and has a cameo in the film, appearing as a Resistance fighter.
Denis Lawson: The actor who played X-wing pilot Wedge Antilles in multiple Star Wars films, starting with A New Hope, makes a previously unannounced return in The Rise of Skywalker. This time Wedge is the gunner on the Millennium Falcon during the film’s climactic battle.
Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn), Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Frank Oz (Yoda), Freddie Prinze Jr. (Kanan in the animated series Star Wars Rebels), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Olivia d’Abo (Luminara Unduli), Angelique Perrin (Adi Gallia in The Clone Wars) and Jennifer Hale (Aayla Secura in The Clone Wars): Talk about a return of the Jedi! While Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) might have been “all the voices in your head” for Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Rey had a Jedi temple’s worth of famous Force users echoing in her mind during the flim’s climax (plus Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, who was previously announced as appearing in the film).
John Williams: The legendary Star Wars composer has a background cameo in the droid shop as the man shaking his head (named Oma Tres).
J.J. Abrams: The Rise of Skywalker director cameos as the voice of cute new “conehead” droid D-O in the film. While Abrams’ co-writer Chris Terrio voiced Aftab Ackbar.
Warwick Davis: Reprised his role as Wicket in the shot of Ewoks at the end of the film.
Suspects: Another name thought to have a role in the film — but not yet confirmed — is singer sensation Ed Sheeran, who was seen in a stormtrooper costume during one of Disney’s behind-the-scenes videos. Also, Hamill teased that Harry Styles might have made a stormtrooper cameo as well.
