Celebrities Remember David Cassidy: ‘Love and Mercy to David’

Musicians, actors and other celebrities are remembering teen idol and “Partridge Family” star David Cassidy, who died Tuesday of complications from dementia at 67.

The TV star and musician was most popular as the oldest brother of the singing Partridge Family on ABC. He went on to have several hit songs and appear on other TV shows such as “Ruby and the Rockits.”

The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson wished him “love and mercy,” echoing Wilson’s 1988 song.

Director Kevin Smith said Cassidy’s “Partridge Family” show character was one of his favorites.

Harry Connick Jr. remembered having him as a guest on his show.

Another teen favorite, Rick Springfield, tweeted, “Godspeed.”

Alexa PenaVega, who appeared with him in TV show “Ruby and the Rockits,” remembered him as an “amazing TV daddy.”

1980’s rocker Richard Marx said he was “incredibly warm and gracious.”

Marlee Matlin said, “You were so sweet to me.”

Actor Tom Arnold said he was lucky to get to know the sweet and very funny real David as an adult.
