Celebrities are mourning Lisa Marie Presley, who died following a hospitalization for an apparent cardiac arrest Thursday. The only child of Elvis Presley was 54.

Ex-husband Nicolas Cage called Presley's death "devastating news" in a statement shared with USA TODAY.

"Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken. I find some solace believing she is reunited with her son Benjamin," he said.

Austin Butler, who won a Golden Globe Award this week for playing Presley's father in 2022's musical biopic "Elvis," expressed shock and gratitude in a statement.

“My heart is completely shattered for (her daughters) Riley, Finley, Harper and (mother) Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie," Butler said. "I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, her love and her authenticity will always be remembered.”

"Elvis" director Baz Luhrmann posted a photo of Presley and Butler.

"Over the last year, the entire Elvis movie family and I have felt the privilege of Lisa Marie’s kind embrace. Her sudden, shocking loss has devastated people all around the world," Luhrmann wrote on Instagram. "I know her fans everywhere join me in sharing prayers of love and support with her mother, Priscilla, and her wonderful daughters Riley, Finley and Harper. Lisa Marie, we will miss your warmth, your smile, your love."

"Lisa baby girl, I’m so sorry," John Travolta wrote on Instagram. "I’ll miss you but I know I’ll see you again. My love and heart goes out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley."

The estate of Michael Jackson, to whom Presley was married from 1994 to 1996, also shared a statement with USA TODAY.

"We are saddened by the sudden tragic loss of Michael’s former wife, Lisa Marie Presley," read the statement. "Michael cherished the special bond they enjoyed as apparent in the official video for 'You Are Not Alone', and was comforted by Lisa Marie’s generous love, concern and care during their times together."

John Branca, co-executor of Jackson's estate, added: “Bringing these two special people together was a memorable moment resulting in a union full of genuine affection and care for each other. My deepest sympathies remain with Lisa’s family."

Musician Navarone Garibaldi, the son of Priscilla Presley and Marco Garibaldi, paid tribute to his half-sister Lisa Marie with a throwback photo of the two on his Instagram page.

Calling her "Big sister," Garibaldi, 35, wrote, "I hope you are now at peace and happy with your Dad and your son by your side."

"I know the past couple years weren’t easy for you, and I wish things had been different between us," he added. "I still can’t believe this, I’m lost for words. Love you sis."

Guns N' Roses lead vocalist Axl Rose mourned his close friend, Presley, saying her death "doesn't seem real."

In a statement to People, Rose spoke about how affected Presley was following the death of her son Benjamin. "Her son's passing was shocking, tragic and devastating. It was something that, at a point, you obviously didn't want to bring up but awkwardly would in an effort to let her know you cared and were thinking about her, about them, and to be of any comfort one could, which she appreciated," the rocker said.

"What comes after life who knows but I'd like to think they're together, her and Ben with her father and Ben's grandfather in some way, and Lisa, and the most important men in her life are happy together," Rose continued.

Bette Midler shared on Twitter that she's "in shock."

"So beautiful and only 54 years old; I can’t," she added.

Fashion designer Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram that she "will never forget the times" she shared with Presley.

"Your beauty and your kindness shone so bright," she continued. "We will never forget you"

Linda Thompson, who dated Elvis Presley for about four years in the 1970s, wrote that her "heart is too heavy for words…"

"I’m heartbroken over the passing of Lisa Marie Presley," Leah Remini wrote. "Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think."

Remini added she hopes Presley is "at peace" and "resting with her son and father now." Presley's father Elvis died of a heart attack at age 42 in 1977, and her son Benjamin Keough died by suicide at age 27 in 2020.

"Her mom Priscilla and her three daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper, are in my prayers," Remini continued.

Singer Shaun Cassidy wrote that he's "sending all our love and prayers to" Presley's mother Priscilla Presley and her family.

Singer LeAnn Rimes called the news "heartbreaking."

"i hope she is at peace in her dad’s arms," Rimes added. "my heart goes out to her family. too much grief in just a couple of years."

Actor Cary Elwes remembered Presley as "a sweet and gentle soul."

"We send our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Priscilla, Riley and her family and friends," he added. "Heartbreakingly sad."

Songwriter Diane Warren called Presley's death "such horrible news."

"The entire world is sending love and prayers to Priscilla and Lisa Marie's children right now," Warren added.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan described the devastation he feels at the loss of Presley.

"There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow," he wrote. "This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count. Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time. I truly cannot find the words to express how sad this truly is. RIP"

Charlie Daniels, Jr., the son of the famed country musician of the same name, wrote, "Mom and I are saddened to hear about the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. Our prayers are with her mother and her loved ones.

"So sad that we’ve lost another bright star in Lisa Marie Presley," Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer wrote. "My condolences to her loved ones and multitude of fans."

Warner Bros. Pictures, which produced the "Elvis" film, mourned Presley in a company statement to USA TODAY.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lisa Marie Presley and send our condolences and sympathy to her children, family and people around the world who loved her," read the statement. "She was an invaluable partner and truly lovely person whom we will remember as a devoted mother, beloved daughter, and loving friend."

Lisa Lange, senior vice president of the organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, remembered Presley as "a friend to animals" in a statement to USA TODAY.

"Learning that an Elvis impersonator had named a chimpanzee after her and was exploiting him for profit, she successfully teamed up with PETA to get her namesake released to a sanctuary," Lange said. "And she didn’t stop there: Early in the pandemic, when shelters were in desperate need of foster families, Lisa Marie and her twin daughters set a wonderful example by opening their home and hearts to two dogs."

Lange added: "Though the 'Lights Out' singer has passed away, her bright vision for animals will continue to inspire all of us at PETA."
