Celebrating beer: Check out Lubbock's Oktoberfest events

Breweries, restaurants and other Lubbock establishments are gearing up for Oktoberfest, the beloved German celebration of beer taking place from mid-September to early October. Check out where in the Hub City you can celebrate with a stein or two:

Good Line Beer Co. — Sept. 15-16

Good Line Beer Co. is hosting its annual Oktoberfest Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16. The brewery is releasing a German-inspired Festbier called "These Pretzels" and will offer one-liter commemorative steins.

Good Line Beer Co. is hosting its second annual Oktoberfest Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16 at their Tech Terrace taproom. The brewery is releasing a German-inspired Festbier called "These Pretzels" and will offer one-liter commemorative steins. Fresh pretzels from Brûlée Bakery will also be available for purchase.

Other festivities include a live polka band, on-site screen printing of Oktoberfest T-shirts, the Texas Tech football game on the projector screen and activities for kids.

Taste Buds food truck will be at the taproom serving up a special Oktoberfest-inspired menu.

Two Docs Doktoberfest — Sept. 23

Two Docs Brewing Co. is bringing back its popular Doktoberfest event Saturday, Sept. 23. The brewery will set up a Biergarten — complete with a traditional brass band — and host five food trucks with German inspired options all day long.

Two Docs will be serving its Doktoberfest Festbier and is even sanctioning a "stein hoisting competition" with a chance to win a prize package worth $100 or more.

Metro Rotary Oktoberfest — Oct. 6

The Rotary Club of Metropolitan Lubbock is hosting its sixth annual Oktoberfest fundraiser Friday evening, Oct. 6 at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion. The fundraiser benefits Lubbock Meals on Wheels and other nonprofits.

For a $50 ticket, patrons get access to German food, an open bar with beer and wine, a live German band, a silent auction and a stein-lifting contest.

Tickets are available at the Lubbock Meals on Wheels office during regular business hours or on their website, lubbockmealsonwheels.org. Ticket sales end at noon Oct. 4.
