Celebrate 'Star Wars' Day with a ride in this far-out Lego Millennium Falcon pedicab
This Star Wars Day, New York-based fans can take their love of that far, far away galaxy to the streets… literally. In honor of the upcoming release of the franchise’s latest adventure, Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Lego Master Builders have constructed a rideable version of the smuggler’s signature ship, the Millennium Falcon. This Falcon isn’t driven by Girodyne SRB42 sublight engines, though. Instead, it blasts into hyperspace by the sheer power of peddling. Over the course of 396 hours, the Master Builders designed a 20,300-Lego block frame that could fit over an otherwise ordinary New York City pedicab. Yahoo Entertainment has your official sneak peek at these vessels, which measure in at 9 feet long and 6 feet wide.
Eager passengers should head to midtown Manhattan on Friday (aka May the 4th), where a fleet of Falcons will be waiting to do a lap around Bryant Park between the hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Each ride lasts about 10 minutes (we’ll leave it up to you to convert that number to parsecs) and you’ll be treated to a picturesque view of the park and its surrounding skyscrapers. Next year, we’re hoping the Master Builders head uptown to the Bronx Zoo and use their Lego powers to transform llamas into tauntauns.
