Celebrate 'Renaissance' — and the holidays — at The Blue Note's Beyoncé dance party

Beyoncé is for all seasons. This is gospel.

Still, there's something appealing about the prospect of dancing closer to Christmas, moved by a soundtrack of her music.

Columbia fans can do so Dec. 8 when The Blue Note hosts RENAIDDANCE (say it slowly a couple times): The Holiday Edition. The curated dance party promises "a celebration of Queen B’s latest masterpiece and the ballroom, disco + techno scenes that inspired it. Expect to hear every song on the album and more!" according to The Blue Note's website.

"Renaissance," released last summer, went platinum and features massive songs such as "Break My Soul" and "Cuff It."

A queen in her own field, NPR music writer Ann Powers described her choice for the Number One album of last year as Beyoncé's "Sistine Chapel, and it deserves to be discussed that way — as a star-filled imaginary sky, and an origin myth that comes to life through its brilliant brush strokes."

The dance party event will also arrive on the heels of "Renaissance" the 2 1/2-hour concert documentary, which hits movie theaters Dec. 1.

Dance parties themed around pop's biggest stars and rock's biggest movements have become a trend. This month, The Blue Note will host The Taylor Party, a traveling, Taylor Swift-themed experience; the venue has also housed emo and pop-punk themed bashes.

RENAIDDANCE tickets are $15-$25, and admission is open to those 18 and older. Visit https://thebluenote.com/ for more details.
