Celebrate Mardi Gras at AIDS Care Ocean State gala

It's been years since AIDS Care Ocean State hosted their Mardi Gras Gala as a fundraiser. It's back Friday, Feb. 9, at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston with Fred Schneider from the B-52s as honorary chair.

The New Orleans-style ball is open to the public with Doreen Collins & Charlie Hall as emcees. There will be traditional Mardi Gras fare, a Bourbon Street-style setting, music from Timeless band, DJ & Lights from South Coast Entertainment, dancing and entertainment from TEN31 Productions and performances by Magician Drew Michaels. Guests who do not come in costume can stop by the Mardi Gras costume shop and get masks and beads for the masquerade.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale at aidscareos.org under “Events.” Tickets cost $325 for two and $175 for one. AIDS Care Ocean State is dedicated to providing advocacy, quality housing, case management, mental health, medical and nursing care, and prevention services to adults, families, adolescents and children who are affected by or at risk for HIV.
