Happy birthday to the irreplaceable Kim Seokjin from BTS! Known around the globe as Worldwide Handsome, Jin is the eldest member of BTS — today (December 4th) is his 30th birthday, and we’re ready to mark the occasion in style.

To celebrate the vocalist, we’ve rounded up ten of our favorite tracks that show off not only Jin’s wonderful voice but also his thoughtful lyrical perspective, kind heart, and constant love for ARMY, BTS’s loyal fanbase.

Check out 10 tracks that highlight Jin below, and scroll to the end for a playlist of the songs available on Spotify.

“Moon”

Jin’s bright track off BTS’s 2020 Map of the Soul: 7 album is one of his most beloved solo songs, and for good reason. Not only is the upbeat ballad perfectly suited to Jin’s wide-ranging vocals, the message contained in the lyrics positioning him as the moon and members of ARMY as the Earth is an enduringly tender sentiment. How lucky we are to have him in our orbit.

“The Astronaut”

This 2022 song, co-written with Coldplay, allowed Jin to truly flex his performing muscles on his own. “When I’m with you, there is no one else,” he sings on the soaring, glittering chorus. Jin has always had an affinity for lyrics revolving around the stars and interplanetary exploration, but “The Astronaut” truly sent him into the stratosphere. Since we won’t be receiving new music from Jin for a while, this song is here to keep us all company for the time being.

“Epiphany”

BTS’s Love Yourself series was a time that saw the members all exploring their own relationships with the often difficult concepts of self-love and identity. With Jin’s solo track, “Epiphany,” he makes a bold statement: “I’m the one I should love in this world.” Despite the melancholy nature of the song, which underscores how hard of a challenge such a simple idea can be, “Epiphany” is a hopeful song through and through.

“Yours”

K-dramas love a good ballad, and Jin didn’t hold back on the song written for the 2021 drama Jirisan. “Every night I see you in my heart/ Every night I end up crying,” he sings in falsetto on the chorus. While the plotlines explored in the television show may have wrapped, “Yours” continues to live on.

“Film Out”

While not a solo track, BTS’s Japanese release “Film Out” highlights so many of the great things about Jin as a performer. Beyond the fact that he’s positively magnetic as the focal point of the music video, the song truly allows BTS’s vocal line to soar. BTS love a good set of “la la las,” and “Film Out” boasts some of the best — the song written for Japanese film Signal: Long-Term Unsolved Case Investigation Team has become a dark horse favorite for plenty of fans.

“Awake”

BTS’s Wings album was the first place members tired out solo tracks, and Jin rose to the occasion with style. “Awake” begins with an orchestral flourish before Jin’s expansive vocal range is put on full display — he begins in his lower register and spans to a falsetto by the time the pre-chorus, scored with romantic cello, arrives.

“Stay”

This energetic subunit track from RM, Jin, and Jungkook offered a combination of members we hadn’t seen too often before. The BE cut is so lively and energetic on the album, and holds even more great memories for fans who were lucky enough to see the members pour all their energy into a live performance during the “Permission to Dance On Stage” concert series.

“It’s Definitely You”

Raise your hand if you agree that another subunit from Jin and V is long overdue. Back in 2016, V was acting in a Korean television drama called Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. Jin and V provided the playful, bouncy song for the soundtrack of the show, and it’s high time we got another cut from these two.

“Abyss”

As a birthday gift to fans in 2020, Jin shared the very personal “Abyss.” The tender instrumental revealed some of the feelings that permeated 2020 for so many people — Jin was feeling isolated and lost, and Jin shared that he felt inspired to share these feelings through music. It’s a safe place for anyone who finds themself feeling the same.

“Super Tuna”

I refuse to explain, and will stand by this forever. He simply has the range. HBD Jin!
