Celebrate Christmas with special brewery events at Crooked Hammock, across Delmarva
Christmas cheer is all around with events at craft breweries, starting with Crooked Hammock Brewery, which goes all out for the season.
Crooked Hammock: 'We love the holidays'
Crooked Hammock Brewery in Lewes, Delaware, is ready and excited for Christmas. Walking in, Buddy the Elf of "Elf" movie fame is there right next to the Christmas tree.
“We love the holidays. We think you should to,” said Joe Baird, brand marketing manager at Crooked Hammock.
Holidays at the Hammock has been going since the location in Lewes opened and it always changes up with new offerings each year.
They’ve done gingerbread house building days and had snow machines over some weekends.
The dining room this year is decorated as an ode to Buddy the Elf, decked out with paper snowflakes, paper chains and tinsel.
“We’re trying to recreate our dining room the same way he treated Gimbels in the movie. And the cool thing is, people can come in and be a part of that,” Baird said.
Next to the Buddy the Elf cutout is a free craft station where guests to Crooked Hammock can make their own snowflakes to add to the dining room.
“We wanted to find ways to make people be able to interact more with us, to do more. So, if that one ticketed day sold out, you didn’t miss out,” Baird said.

'Lets it Snow S'more' a special ticketed event around the fire
That’s where the “Let it Snow S’more Campfire Experience” comes in. Four fire pits are outside in the backyard with enough space for large groups.
At the Hammock it’s the Christmas event that will need tickets, which are $35. Check https://www.crookedhammockbrewery.com/holidaysatthehammock/ for availability.
“We thought it was the perfect way to do more during the holidays,” Baird said.
Each group gets a box with enough for eight s’mores, hot cocoa for four people and a limited-edition Crooked Hammock ornament that can be taken home to add to the tree.
If there’s no real snow Crooked Hammock makes it snow with their snow machine every weekend, Friday through Sunday, up to New Year’s.
“I was there the first night. It was fun and cool. You roast S’mores, listen to Christmas music. It’s kind of chill,” Baird said.
For Holidays at the Hammock, they have events nearly every day along with a special food menu that includes salads, sandwiches, entrees and a Buddy’s spaghetti dessert.

And of course, there are special holiday beers, too!
Holiday beers are on tap with Jingle Berry, Buddy’s Spaghetti Breakfast (made with real spaghetti), Sticky Toffee Pudding and S’more Cowbell (A Russian Imperial Stout).
One hundred percent of the profits from the sales of the Buddy’s spaghetti dessert and a pint of the Buddy’s Spaghetti Breakfast will go to Make-A-Wish foundation.
The Buddy’s Spaghetti Breakfast beer once it sells out will contribute more than $6,000.
Baird said the spaghetti beer might not last the entire holiday. It’s been a popular beer.
And don’t worry, there’s no tomato sauce with Buddy’s spaghetti. He doesn’t use that in the movie.
The beer was made with whole-grain spaghetti, blueberries, Wild Berry Pop-Tarts, and maple syrup.
“My favorite is probably the S’more Cowbell. Just because I like stouts traditionally. It’s also the highest ABV, so it’s got a little kick to it. You get one, you’re good to go,” Baird said.

New Year's Eve will also rock at Crooked Hammock
Once Christmas is over there is one more big celebration left for everyone.
“The one thing I’d say to keep an eye out for is our New Year’s Eve party,” Baird said.
It’s all inclusive. All you need is to buy the ticket to get in. Open bar, food, dancing and live music.
“I think it’s my favorite thing I’m looking forward to, but I’m a big New Year’s Eve guy,” Baird said.
