Happy birthday, Bootsy Collins!

The funk bassist and singer from Cincinnati celebrated his 71st birthday on Wednesday, and he chose to laud the occasion in Bootsy Collins-style.

Collins announced a collaborative compilation album project titled "Funk Not Fight," with Syncr Music and the Bootsy Collins Foundation. He also released a 60-second teaser of the title track and single of the same name Wednesday on YouTube.

"Funk Not Fight!" Collins said in a release. "Spreading hope is no joke."

The album will feature emerging artists, rappers, poets, singers and instrumentalists, who will be able to submit their music to be featured alongside Collins and other guest artists. Featured guest artists include: Lettuce, Buckethead, Zapp, Triggy, Syleena Johnson, Tommy Davidson, Hi-Tek, Deanna Brown, G7, Michael Dyson, Steve Lacy and more. Musicians can submit their music for consideration in the album through Syncr Music.

The album's official release date has not yet been announced. According to a release, all money raised will go toward initiatives dedicated to helping overcome violence and unrest in communities.

To celebrate his birthday and the new album, Collins also launched "the Bootsy Collins Show" radio show with Apple Music. The episode "Bootsy Birthday Extravaganza" features guests including Morris Day, Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Flea and Sheila E to celebrate "Funk Not Fight."
