Cedric The Entertainer Brothers Comedy Set At CBS With Spike Feresten Writing

In his followup to TV Land’s The Soul Man, Cedric the Entertainer is set to co-create, executive produce and star in Tony Take the Wheel, a multi-camera comedy, which has entered development at CBS through CBS TV Studios.

Co-created by Cedric and Seinfeld alum Spike Feresten and written by Feresten, Tony Takes the Wheel centers on the relationship between two very different brothers whose family dynamic is challenged when one brother (Cedric) hires his teenage nephew to work at his custom car shop.

Cedric The Entertainer and Eric Rhone are executive producing via A Bird And A Bear Entertainment alongside Hangar 56’s Feresten and John Stevens as well as sitcom veterans Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of the Tannenbaum Co. CBS TV Studios is the studio.

Actor-comedian Cedric the Entertainer also co-created, executive produced and toplined multi-camera comedy The Soul Man, which aired on TV Land for five seasons. CBS has been mounting a push for more diversity in its sitcom roster, starting with the new midseason series Superior Donuts starring Jerome Fowler.

Feresten, who hosted his own late-night talk show on Fox, has Car Matchmaker with Spike Feresten on Esquire.

Cedric The Entertainer, Rhone, and A Bird And A Bear Entertainment are repped by CAA and attorneys Gordon Bobb and Nina Shaw. Feresten and Hangar 56 are repped by CAA, Michael Reynolds and attorney Ken Richman. The Tannenbaum Co. is represented by CAA and attorney Jeff Finkelstein.
