CBS Studios International Distributing Kapital Entertainment’s ABC Drama ‘A Million Little Things’ International

ABC drama A Million Little Things is the first Kapital Entertainment-produced series for a third-party network that will be sold by CBS Studios International since its deal with producer Aaron Kaplan. The agreement was made months ago while the hot drama was still in the development stages at ABC.

Kaplan partnered with CBS Corporation last year in a joint venture that saw the latter acquire an ownership stake in Kapital Entertainment, whereby it would provide co-financing for Kapital projects and will serve as worldwide distributor.

Up until now, these have been CBS and CBS Studios-related projects, but A Million Little Things, the hourlong gamble from DJ Nash, the comedy writer behind NBC’s Growing Up Fisher and Truth Be Told, marks a step change.

ABC handed the show, which features an all-star ensemble cast, including David Giuntoli, Ron Livingston, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, a series order last week and CBS Studios International will now shop it to international buyers, who have started arriving in LA for the LA Screenings.

The show, which revolves around a group of friends from Boston who bonded under unexpected circumstances, is exec produced by Nash, Kaplan and Dana Honor.

CBS Studios International President and CEO Armando Nuñez called Kaplan an “incredibly prolific producer”. He told Deadline, “Having a show like A Million Little Things, which is a different type of show, it’s not for CBS, it’s an incredibly well produced show that is a very ABC type of show and fits in the more female demo, will be very well received by a variety of platforms that we’re catering to around the world. It’s nice to have something outside the normal kind of CBS content and something else on another broadcast network.”

Elsewhere, this season, Kaplan is also producing multi-camera comedy Fam and Cedric The Entertainer’s The Neighborhood.
