Kathryn Morris, Danny Pino

With CBS’ success in reviving CSI: Crime Scene Investigation into CSI: Vegas, the eye network is now looking into its library of crime procedurals to see what other series might follow suit.

According to a report by Deadline, a reboot of Cold Case, which starred Kathryn Morris as Detective Lilly Rush and Danny Pino as Detective Scotty Valens, who were tasked with solving unsolved murders in Philadelphia and aired from 2003-2010, is a possibility.

The reboot is being headed by the series’ creator/executive producer Meredith Stiehm and unlike CSI: Vegas, which stayed in the same locale, the redo of Cold Case will take place 15 years after the series’ finale and will move to the Southwest with a new team of investigators.

According to Deadline, the deal is far from a sure thing as negotiations continue, and no talent has been attached to the project, although Pino has been in conversations to reprise his role. Not so for Morris.

If a deal is struck, it most likely will not be for CBS’ 2024-2025 season as the network already has three new drama series in the works: the strike-delayed Matlock, which stars Kathy Bates and Beau Bridges; NCIS: Origins, which stars Austin Stowell as a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs; and the medical drama Watson, which stars Morris Chestnut as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders.
