CBS Developing Medical Examiner Drama From ‘Dexter’ Producer & Marc Webb

EXCLUSIVE: CBS has put in development Body Politic, a procedural drama from former Dexter co-executive producer Lauren Gussis, (500) Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb and Dark Horse Entertainment.

Written by Gussis and Dark Horse SVP production Keith Goldberg, Body Politic is inspired by the work of real-life D.C. examiner Dr. Roger Mitchell. It follows a newly minted, brutally honest female chief medical examiner in Washington D.C. who gets recruited by the CIA to help solve the most high-stakes, politicized cases in the world.

Webb is set to direct the potential pilot. He is executive producing the project with Gussis, Goldberg and Dark Horse Entertainment’s president Michael Richardson who is exec producing for CBS TV Studios.

Webb, who is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content, directed the upcoming April 12 Fox Searchlight release Gifted starring Chris Evans, Jenny Slate and Octavia Spencer. Gussis, a CAA and Circle of Confusion client, has Chippendale’s set up at TNT. Richardson is represented by WME.
