CBS Buys ‘Something To Celebrate’ Family Comedy Produced By Elizabeth Banks

CBS has put in development Something to Celebrate, a family comedy based on the Spanish format, from BoJack Horseman co-executive producer Vera Santamaria and Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions.

Written by Santamaria, Something to Celebrate is a family comedy where each episode is loosely centered on a specific celebration and/or gathering. Santamaria, Banks and Handelman executive produce. Warner Bros. TV, where Brownstone has a deal, is the studio.

Something to Celebrate is based on Algo Que Celebrar, the 2015 Spanish series for Secuoya Distribution and Antena 3 that ran for one season. You can watch a trailer in Spanish below.

Santamaria recently served as a co-executive producer on USA Network’s Playing House. Born in Canada to Indian immigrants, she got her start on Canadian television with stints on such popular shows as Degrassi and Little Mosque on the Prairie and created her own series, How To Be Indie, before moving to Los Angeles, where she also has worked on NBC’s Community and Outsourced. Santamaria is repped by ICM Partners and Meridian Artists.

Banks is repped by UTA, Untitled and Ziffren. Paradigm is repping the Spanish original format through Secuoya.
