Chatham Area Transit will be offering shuttle services on St. Patrick's Parade day this year, and its typical fixed-route transit will be fare-free on both March 15 and 16.

The only change to CAT's typical fixed-route service is the downtown DOT line will not run on parade day. Shuttles will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on one-hour intervals, depending on traffic.

CAT's parade-day shuttle services will be $5, and payment is cashless. Shuttles in Savannah will pick up at the Walmart at Island Towne Center on Whitemarsh Island; the Oglethorpe Mall parking deck on, between the Belk and JCPenney department stores; and the Westside Shopping Center, 411 US-80, Garden City.

There will also be shuttle service from Port Wentworth, which will pick up at the new city hall, 7224 GA-21, and the Publix at The Market at Rice Hope, 7936 GA-21.

While fixed-route and paratransit services, aside from the DOT, will operate on their usual schedules, there may be some adjustments due to parade traffic, said Mary Moskowitz, CAT's chief of planning.

Moskowitz said CAT will have supervisors stationed at the traffic control center. They will be able to provide live updates as road closures occur throughout the day, Moskowitz said.
