Casting service seeking movie extras in Champaign County

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) – A film casting service will be looking for background actors in Champaign County throughout this weekend.

Amidst an ongoing effort to bring more movie productions to Central Illinois, Bokeh Background Casting is hosting two open casting calls for two upcoming films. The calls will place actors into a talent pool, which casting directors can pull from to cast background talent for their films.

The first round will be held in Champaign on Saturday at a to-be-determined location. The next will be held on Sunday at Rantoul’s Business Center on South Century Boulevard. Both casting calls will last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Upcoming Champaign-Urbana workshop connects filmmakers to local vendors

This comes a couple weeks after Bokeh helped host another casting call in Rantoul for Flyover Film Studios, who received more than $1 million earlier this year to build a soundstage in the village.

The calls are free, open to everyone, and film work will be paid.

Here’s what auditionees can expect:

  • After checking in, you’ll be given a number.

  • You’ll have your picture taken with your number, and be asked some basic questions such as your name and contact information.

  • From there, you will be placed in the casting system.

  • When film dates are available, officials will email the pool with submission instructions.

  • Bokeh Background Casting will then work to get qualified candidates on set.
