Casting Net: Idris Elba replaces Jamie Foxx in 'The Trap'
  • Idris Elba is replacing Jamie Foxx to star alongside Benicio Del Toro in Harmony Korine’s The Trap. The film will co-star Robert Pattinson, James Franco, and Al Pacino. The movie takes place inside the Miami music scene where an ex-con (Del Toro) is out for revenge against a gangster rapper and previous friend (Elba) who let him take the blame for a robbery they committed 14 years ago. Franco plays Elba’s drug-addicted manager and Pacino will play Del Toro’s parole officer. Pattinson portrays a surfer who will help Del Toro’s character get revenge. [The Wrap]

  • Scott Haze is back in business with his Child of God director James Franco for Franco’s next directing project, In Dubious Battle. The pic’s ensemble already includes Franco, Selena Gomez, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston and Danny McBride. Based on the John Steinbeck novel, the film is about a group of fruit pickers who try to form a strike in 1930’s California. Principal photography on the film will start in March. [Variety]

  • Stephen Peacocke has joined the cast of MGM and New Line’s Me Before You, starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. The film is based on the Jojo Moyes novel that revolves around a small town girl who forms an unlikely bond with a newly paralyzed man she’s taking care of. Peacocke will play the paralyzed man’s personal caretaker. [Variety]
