Cassie Ventura, known professionally as Cassie, has now released her own statement following Diddy’s apology video.

In November 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs , alleging the rapper had physically and sexually abused her for years. Diddy denied all accusations of the kind until May 17, when CNN published graphic surveillance-video footage from March of 2016 showing Diddy assaulting Cassie. On May 19, Diddy posted a video to his own Instagram in which he said he takes “full responsibility” for his “inexcusable” behavior in the video and said he had sought professional help.

On May 23, Cassie posted her response.

“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers, and those I have yet to meet,” the singer began her statement, which emphasized the importance of believing all victims of domestic violence. “My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.” She continued, “I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone.”

Cassie’s statement concluded, “This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always, Cassie.”
