Daniel Wheeler, also known as Cash Wheeler in the wrestling world, will no longer be headed to trial for a case stemming from a 2023 charge of aggravated assault with a firearm

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that the prosecution entered a declaration of “Nolle Prosequi”. This typically means that the case will be dropped. The reasoning for this move is unclear at this time.

With the declaration, the prosecution is no longer looking to move forward to bring Wheeler to trial, meaning that Cash Wheeler is free to move forward without any legal issues linked to this situation.

The move comes just a day before a pre-trial was set to commence for the upcoming hearing. The trial itself was dated to begin on May 20, but now neither will occur. Throughout the legal proceedings, Cash Wheeler had pled not guilty to any and all charges.

Wheeler was arrested in Florida in August 2023 and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, a third-degree felony in the state. Wheeler allegedly flashed a handgun in what was “believed to be a road rage incident.” Wheeer’s attorney subsequently said that he did not know the other parties involved. As reported in February, Wheeler was heading to trial, as he pled not guilty on all charges.

Wheeler is a two-time AEW World Tag Team Champion, among other accolades.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
