It looks like Happy Endings may be getting its happy ending!

At Paul Scheer’s Big Fancy Book Party in Los Angeles, Casey Wilson tells PEOPLE of the potential reboot following its cancellation, “They are trying to make it happen.” However, according to the 43-year-old actress, there is a hitch in securing writers’ contracts, as they are spread across different studios.

“Which couldn’t be more boring,” she says about the logistical setbacks.

In the meantime, Wilson and costar Adam Pally will co-host a Happy Endings rewatch podcast, premiering next week, which she is “excited about.”

“We interviewed everybody and it’s so dumb and so silly. It’s really ridiculous,” says Wilson, who starred in the ABC sitcom as Penny Hartz for its three-season run.

The podcast has been in the works for nearly two years, with Wilson teasing its existence to PEOPLE in July 2022.

"Adam Pally and I, and I haven't said this anywhere, but we have been taping a Happy Endings podcast for fun,” she revealed to PEOPLE at the time. “We know that for our smaller, yet healthily rabid fan base, we hope they'll enjoy it for fun."

Happy Endings, starring Wilson, Pally, Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton and Damon Wayans Jr., ended in 2014. The series followed the six stars as best friends living in Chicago as they navigate through adulthood and changing dynamics after one friend leaves another at the altar.

Since its cancellation, talks of a revival have arisen among the cast and beyond. In 2019, then-Head of ABC Entertainment Karey Burke hinted at the “remote possibility” of a reboot.

“I will never say never; I’m hearing whispers,” Burke told The Hollywood Reporter. “That is a dream of a lot of people at ABC.”

Wilson wasn't as certain of a revival when asked about it in 2021. She admitted to PEOPLE that “they’ve actually tried to bring it back a time or two,” but “it just kind of hasn't worked out, to everyone's utter devastation.” Still, the podcaster’s interest in reprising her role in the comedy hasn’t wavered, as she “would love to do it.”
