Casey Kasem Remains in Critical Condition at a Washington Hospital

Just days after the veteran radio deejay's health took a sudden turn for the worse, Casey Kasem was still in critical condition Sunday.

Kasem was being treated for an infected bedsore at Washington's St. Anthony Hospital, where he was admitted last week in the thick of a sour family battle, a hospital spokesperson tells NBC News.

The hospital spokesperson says Kasem has been alert during his treatment, which includes wound care, intravenous antibiotic therapy, blood pressure support medication and pain treatment.

The fight for control over his medical care, however, has divided his loved ones. The tussle took a tumultuous turn when Kasem was transported in an ambulance last Sunday after Jean Kasem, his second wife, threw hamburger meat at his daughter Kerri.

The bizarre incident capped off a long battle. In May, Kasem disappeared from his care facility in Santa Monica, California. His children said they did not know the whereabouts of their father, who has advanced Parkinson's disease. Authorities found him near Seattle, where Jean had quietly transferred him.

A Washington state judge ruled on Friday that Kasem's care would be controlled by Kerri.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge will rule on a request Monday over whether Kasem should be transported to Los Angeles, reports NBC News.

"His health is worse," a rep for Kasem's daughter told PEOPLE last week. "We're just not sure how bad at this point."
