Casey Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony, are finally responding over a year after she accused her dad of being responsible for the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony.

Caylee's mysterious death has been the subject of public scrutiny since 2008, when Cindy called 911 and reported that the 2-year-old child had been missing for 31 days. Casey was charged with first-degree murder in October of that year and pleaded not guilty. Two months later, Caylee's skeletal remains were found in a trash bag in the woods half a mile from the Anthony family home in Florida.

Casey was acquitted of murder and manslaughter in 2011, and removed herself from the spotlight following the end of the trial.

In the years since, Casey, George, and Cindy have spoken out on rare occasions. Here's what to know about where George and Cindy are now.

Casey accused George of sexual abuse in Peacock's 2022 limited docuseries 'Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies'

In the three-part docuseries, Casey described George as "a man who was incapable of ever telling anyone the truth" and said that her home life was riddled with lies that he perpetuated.

Casey accused George of sexually abusing her from 8 to 12 years old and said he smothered and sexually abused Caylee. Casey alleged that George made Caylee's death look like a drowning to cover up his actions.

In "Casey Anthony's Parents: The Lie Detector Test," George and Cindy took a lie-detector test to answer questions about their granddaughter's death.

Casey had limited interactions with her parents, and is estranged from them. In the new TV special, Cindy said that she hasn't physically seen her daughter since 2016. They exchanged heated text messages in October 2021 when Casey asked for Caylee's ashes.

During a 2019 interview on "Dr. Oz," George said that Casey reached out to him after he was severely injured in a car accident months prior.

George and Cindy, who have been married for 42 years, previously sat down for an interview for the A&E special "Casey Anthony's Parents Speak." George told journalist Tony Harris that, to this day, Casey still "lies about everything," and he agreed to take a polygraph to prove that he "never did anything to harm my daughter or my granddaughter."

The first part of George's polygraph test focused on Casey's sexual abuse allegations. George denied having sexual contact with Casey or touching her for sexual gratification.

In an interview with Harris that occurred after the polygraph test, Cindy said that her husband couldn't do that without anyone hearing it, given the proximity of their bedrooms.

"Everybody knows how protective I am of my children," Cindy said. "I would have castrated him myself if I thought he did that."

George also denied the allegation that he molested Caylee. He told Harris it was "one of the cruelest things I've ever been accused of in my life."

In the second part of his polygraph test, George was asked about Caylee's disappearance. George denied actively causing his granddaughter's disappearance. When asked if he knowingly concealed Caylee's whereabouts, George struggled but denied it in one round of questioning.

"I didn't know where she was at," George said, explaining that he momentarily struggled because he began visualizing the woods where the remains were found.

"Did I conceal her whereabouts? I did not know where she was at," he said.

In her polygraph test, Cindy was asked whether George told her anything about any involvement he might have had in Caylee's disappearance. She responded "no" to all questions.

Over the course of filming, George and Cindy's relationship became tense, and they argued. George told Harris that his family's controversy regularly consumes him and didn't think their marriage would remain intact following this TV special.

Following the polygraph tests, retired FBI Special Agent George Olivo, who administered the exam, told Cindy that she passed. Olivo said that George was also truthful during both parts of his exam, leading him to tear up.

Cindy said she'll always love Casey but will "never forgive her."

"I hope she someday finds the truth and accepts the truth. Not her truth, the real truth," she said.

George shared similar comments, adding that Casey "blew it with this family."
