Is Casey Anthony's Dad 'Struggling' to Answer Lie Detector Questions About Granddaughter's Death?

Anthony's parents are responding to their daughter's accusations in a new A&E series premiering this week

George Anthony is putting his story to the test.

More than a year after Casey Anthony’s bombshell interview blaming her father George for her daughter Caylee’s death, her parents are appearing on a new true crime reality show on A&E in which they’ll both take lie detector tests on camera while recounting their granddaughter’s tragic 2008 death.

The series, Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test, will premiere Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on A&E and Lifetime. You can see a first look at the series below, in which George answers questions on camera during a polygraph test for the first time.

In the clip, George, now 72, denies that he knew Caylee’s whereabouts during the six months authorities were searching for his missing 2-year-old granddaughter. Caylee’s body was later found in a wooded area near the family’s home in Orlando, Fla.

When he’s asked if he has concealed Caylee’s whereabouts, George appears to hesitate momentarily before saying, “No.”

The person administering the polygraph says to him, “So you’re struggling with that one a little bit. Tell me why.”

"Maybe it's because … it was so close to our house, that she was found," Anthony says.

He insists he didn’t know where Caylee was when he went out looking for the girl. Then, he adds, "I was just visualizing the woods where she was found. I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

Anthony, now 37, was charged with Caylee’s murder.

The Florida mother was infamously acquitted of her murder charge on July 5, 2011, although she was still convicted of four counts of providing false information to the police. Anthony served prison time for those charges and was released later that same month with credit for time served.

In her first on-camera interview last year for the three-part limited series Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies on Peacock, Anthony blamed her 2-year-old daughter’s 2008 death squarely on her father, claimed that he sexually assaulted her and alleged that he killed her daughter to cover up that he had been sexually assaulting Caylee.

George has never been charged and, in the series’ promo, he denies that he assaulted either his daughter Casey or his granddaughter Caylee.

“Casey Anthony’s explosive accusations that her father molested Casey and Caylee and that he is responsible for Caylee’s death, prompted George and Cindy’s decision to undergo lie detector tests,” A&E said in a press release advertising the new series. “Their real-time responses to the polygraph questions are laid bare in the documentary along with each spouse’s reaction to the other’s answers and the lie detector results.”
