This cartoon breaks down how Russian hackers are trolling Americans

On Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, the host broke down the life of a Russian troll in cartoon form. Bee’s “Collusion for Dummies” style cartoon came not a moment too soon with Facebook recently admitting that 150 million Americans may have been exposed to Russian posts and with the exposure of fake accounts designed to trick activists into organizing and attending real-life protests.

Describing Russian trolls as “complex and putrid like if a flower grew out of a stiff nightstand sweat sock,” Bee went on to say that they start with a “seed of controversy” by targeting something Americans already hate. “Mostly Americans hate other Americans,” she said, “Trolls post about it, bots amplify it until they get lots of real people to start arguing online and we argue and argue and argue. And that amplification of pain is called ‘trending.'”

With most Washington officials acknowledging that Russian hackers used social media to interfere with the 2016 election, it seems that now more than ever we need to be extra careful with social media. If you’re a Russian troll, please let us know in the comments below.
