Carter Swan Leaves Relativity Media (EXCLUSIVE)

Carter Swan has left Relativity Media where he was serving as vice president of development, Variety has learned.

He is believed to have taken an unspecified job at 3311 Productions, which an insider says will involve having a senior role in the production company’s television division. A spokesperson for 3311 did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Swan came over to Relativity earlier this year after Dana Brunetti took over as president of the film division. He had worked with Brunetti for a decade at Trigger Street Productions. The company was co-founded by Kevin Spacey and was responsible for the likes of “The Social Network” and “Captain Phillips.” Brunetti said he encouraged Swan to take the new job.

“Carter was offered a great opportunity with a position to advance his career, which I always encourage,” he said in a statement. “Like me, he started as an assistant and was prepared to take opportunities as they arose to further himself.”

Relativity emerged from Chapter 11 earlier this year. It has struggled at the box office since exiting bankruptcy protection, releasing flops such as “The Disappointments Room” and “Masterminds.” Last month, YuuZoo, an internet company from Singapore, shelled out $50 million for a 33% stake in the studio.

3311 Productions’ past work includes “In a World,” a comedy with Lake Bell, and “Mr. Right,” a romantic comedy with Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick.
