Carrie Underwood WAS ROBBED at the CMA Awards!
The 2019 CMA Awards’ theme was women who had made a huge influence on country music. The host was Carrie Underwood with Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire. Those legends! Now this does not mean Carrie Underwood should’ve won because she has the backing of those two icons. However, it is a little ironic to have women in every category for the first time ever and a woman does not win the Entertainer of the Year. Reese Witherspoon even presented the award! However, Garth Brooks won!

He’s an icon too. He deserves everything because he is amazing. However, the protests on social media tell the accurate story. Carrie looked like the front runner for many reason! Carrie Underwood stepped up her game in 2019 and took new routes for her music. She released Cry Pretty which is her most mature album ever and remade her own clothing BRAND! If that’s not enough she made appearances on Sunday Night Football! Carrie was basically everywhere.
Miranda Lambert Supports Carrie
It just seemed like a missed opportunity to change the narrative on the CMAs who made an effort to promote women this award show. However, it wasn’t enough. Miranda Lambert agreed with this sentiment. As she said, “@carrieunderwood is on an all female tour too. The Cry Pretty Tour 360. She put out her first single in 2005 and from then on country music was changed for good. That iconic voice has been classin’ up our stages, charts and televisions for a decade and a half”. There’s one endorsement from one of country’s leading women too.

Another call-out came from the Runaway June who toured with Carrie Underwood and believe she needed to win the award. They even suggested they would “Kanye West” if she doesn’t win. The issue is that Carrie Underwood worked hard this year and went home with nothing. All of her hard work to break boundaries just ignored because she was a woman. Very sad and she has not said anything on social media too. Carrie Underwood definitely deserved the award.
Women Still Win
In positive news, women are making strides in the country music industry as "Maren Morris won Album of the Year for Girl, and Ashley McBryde won New Artist of the Year. Kacey Musgraves also won Music Video of the Year, and Jenee Fleenor won Musician of the Year, the first-ever win by a woman in that category". This is great! However, this is a little unsettling. How in 2019 is she the first woman to win the award? No woman has deserved to win that award? It’s a little bizarre. However, at least they’re making strides. Give props when they deserve it!
Next year, give Carrie her flowers! She’s coming back with a vengeance.
