Carrie Underwood responds to dis of her 'Sunday Night Football' theme song: 'Hey, I know my music isn't for everyone'

Carrie Underwood could have just ignored it when Jessica Smetana, a producer and showrunner for Sports Illustrated, mentioned her Sunday night on Twitter. But the country star didn’t.

Smetana’s comment was about Underwood’s theme song for the NFL’s Sunday Night Football, which plays ahead of Sunday night games on NBC.

Fans had mixed reactions to the updated recording when it premiered in September.

The morning after Smetana’s comment, Underwood pointed out that she appreciates women who “build other women up.”

Immediately after, the “Before He Cheats” singer sent some good vibes for the week ahead.

A couple of hours after Underwood’s tweet, Smetana apologized for her statement, saying that she hadn’t meant to “upset Carrie or her fans.” Smetana added that she’s all about supporting women too and that she simply misses the old theme song.

Underwood’s next posts reinforced what she had said. The expectant mom of one, 3-year-old Isaiah, applauded two of her loyal fans.

Still, everyone involved had to enjoy this quip about the situation.
