Carrie Underwood Announces New Album Release Date for 'Cry Pretty'
There's no stopping Carrie Underwood!
The 35-year-old singer announced on Wednesday that her new album, Cry Pretty, will be released on Sept. 14.
Previously with Arista Nashville, this marks Underwood's first release with Capitol Records Nashville, and her sixth studio album altogether since rising to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005.
"At this point in my career, I feel stronger and more creative than ever," Underwood said in a statement. "I think you can hear that in this new album. It’s emotional, it’s soulful, it’s real and we also have some fun on there too. I hope everyone loves it as much as I have loved making it.”

The news comes just three days after Underwood returned to the spotlight to perform the album's title track and lead single, "Cry Pretty," at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday. The event marked her first public appearance since suffering from a scary fall last November at her home in Nashville, Tennessee, which required her to undergo surgery for a broken wrist and get 40 to 50 stitches in her face.

Following the performance, ET caught up with Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson backstage, who praised Underwood for her triumphant return.
"I'm very proud of Carrie," said McEntire. "She's gone through a lot, and I am proud that she's back on the stage again. She's a tremendous vocalist, incredible -- got legs to die for -- but she's an incredible vocalist."
"It’s great that she's better," added Clarkson.
