Carrie Preston Joins Marti Noxon’s Eating Disorder Movie ‘To the Bone’
Carrie Preston has joined Lily Collins and Keanu Reeves in Marti Noxon’s dark comedy “To the Bone,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The project marks the feature directing debut for Noxon, who will helm from her own script. The story is inspired by Noxon’s own struggles with anorexia.
Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis of Mockingbird Pictures will produce along with Karina Miller, who is also financing through her company Sparkhouse Media. Miller heads Sparkhouse with her husband and financier Talal Al Abbar.
“To the Bone” is the first picture announced from their slate, with principal photography set to start at the end of March in Los Angeles.
Collins will portray an emotionally ravaged young artist from a broken home and Preston will play her stepmother — an overbearing, chatty woman who is fighting to help save her. Reeves will play a doctor with an unorthodox style who pushes Collins’ character to choose life and commit to getting better.
Preston won an Emmy for the CBS drama “The Good Wife” and starred on HBO’s “True Blood.” She’s the lead in the NBC comedy “Crowded,” which premiered March 15, and has been cast in the ABC miniseries “When We Rise.”
Preston is represented by Innovative Artists and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management.
