Caroline Polachek appeared on The Late Show to debut her new single, “Dang.” Dressed as a professor of sorts, Polachek performed the song in front of a lecture screen that switched slides as she sang.

“Dang” follows Polachek’s second solo LP, Desire, I Want To Turn Into You, which she released earlier this year. The song, produced by Polachek and Cecile Believe with additional production by Danny L Harle, is leftover from the album’s recording sessions. Polachek has been teasing the track for the past month, dropping it in DJ sets.

Following her performance on The Late Show, Polachek released the official song.

Earlier this month, Polachek joined NPR for a Tiny Desk concert where she performed “I Believe, “Blood and Butter,” and “Sunset.” “I Believe” marked the final single from “I Believe,” which arrived in February.

“This song felt right to end the series on, because it’s about endlessness,” she said. “I’ve heard it said that all particles will eventually rearrange themselves such that we will live everything again, but my gut says time is more like a spiral: yes we do return, yes the curve is familiar, but the form is never quite the same.”

In August, Polachek teamed up with Lorde for a rendition of “Green Light” at the Sziget Festival in Budapest.
