Picture this: Carol Burnett, the queen of comedy, a true icon with the heartiest laugh in Hollywood, is about to blow out the candles on her 91st birthday cake. What does she wish for? World peace? Endless happiness? Nope. She’s setting her sights a tad higher — or at least hotter.

In an era where oversharing has become an Olympic sport, Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, have certainly snagged a few gold medals with their tales of sultry escapades. But even they had to pause and chuckle when Burnett shared her own cheeky birthday wish during an appearance on Live with Mark and Kelly on March 25.

“You know, I listened to the podcast… I loved hearing your stories,” Consuelos remarked to Burnett, recalling an instance she was a guest on his wife’s podcast, TalkOff Camera with Kelly Ripa. “And you said something very funny, that, ‘Is there’s something you wanted to do that you haven’t done yet before you turn 90?’ And you said, ‘George Clooney.’”

When Ripa inquired if the silver fox himself had reached out post-confession, Burnett acted like she had never even heard of Clooney. In fact, she’s got her eyes on another one of Hollywood’s best leading men.

“No, but now I’m thinking about Bradley Cooper,” the Palm Royale star said. That’s right. Move over, Clooney, there’s a new heartthrob in town, and he’s got those baby blues that could make anyone swoon, regardless of age.

And Ripa was ready to play matchmaker before Burnett turns 91 on April 26. “Everyone knows that this is the official morning show of Bradley Cooper,” Ripa said. “He loves this show. Brad? Give Carol a call. And you know which phone to use.”

But before people start shipping Burnett and Cooper’s May December romance, it’s important to note that Burnett is, in fact, very happily married. Her husband, Brian Miller, is a principal drummer in the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and 20 years her junior. Cooper is also taken, reportedly taking big steps in his relationship with Gigi Hadid.

“He’s funny and not easily intimidated,” Burnett once told People of her husband. “As we get older, the gap between our ages narrows. If you were 40 and married a 20-year-old, I don’t think you could communicate like [we do].” So really, if you squint a little, her crush on Cooper, a younger man who has played musicians in several films, makes all the sense in the world.

So, here’s to Burnett, living proof that you’re never too old to have a healthy sense of humor — or Hollywood crush. Here’s to hoping she keeps us guessing and giggling for many more birthdays to come.
