The second day of the Kansas State Fair saw its climactic point Saturday evening when singer-songwriter Carly Pearce took the stage at the Nex-Tech Grandstand.

A herd of country music fans sang along to her heart-tugging hits like "What He Didn't Do" and "I Hope You're Happy Now," after Megan Moroney opened the night with an equally energetic performance.

The two female country stars earned resounding cheers that echoed throughout the Grandstand and could be heard from parking lots a mile away.

Pearce, a Grammy Award-winning artist, has been recognized for her honest lyrics and musicality that both honors the genre's roots and embraces its forward progression. She was honored as one of CMT's 2022 Artists of the Year, the 2021 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and 2022 ACM Awards Female Artist of the Year.

Pearce is among a handful of big names headlining during the 2023 Kansas State Fair. A performance from American rock band NEEDTOBREATHE preceded her Friday, and more live music from Christian artist Matthew West and hip-hop legend Ja Rule are still to come.
