Carly Fiorina Describes Website Pointing Out Her Layoffs as ‘Pretty Funny’

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina announced Monday that she will be seeking the Republican nomination for president, but she’s already dealing with an early stumbling block.

Fiorina’s campaign staff neglected to register the domain name CarlyFiorina.org. It was instead purchased by Mike Link, an employee of the Democratic Party-supported Service Employees International Union. Link is using the site to draw attention to the 30,000 people she laid off while running Hewlett-Packard.

In the past, as in a recent interview with Yahoo’s Katie Couric, Fiorina defended the layoffs, saying they were a “terrible decision to have to make” but were necessary to “transform a company from failing to succeeding.” On Late Night with Seth Meyers, she described the website showcasing the layoffs as “pretty funny” and told the talk-show host that she had registered SethMeyers.org, needling him for how “cheap” it was.
