Carlos and Alexa PenaVega Welcome Son Ocean King

Carlos and Alexa PenaVega just had their biggest rush ever: they’re parents!

The Spy Kids actress, 28, and former Big Time Rush member, 27, welcomed son Ocean King PenaVega on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in Los Angeles, their rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 6 oz.

Ocean is the first child for the couple, who were married in January 2014. They revealed the news of their baby on the way in June, via matching Instagram posts and a vlog on their YouTube channel.

“I thought for sure it’d be like, ‘One, two, three, wham, bam, we’re pregnant!’ ” Carlos said in the video, in which the former Dancing with the Stars competitors explain that they had some help from an ovulation kit to conceive successfully. “But no, that’s not the case. You gotta keep trying, trying, trying … and try some more. Which is not a bad thing.”

“When it doesn’t happen, you think, ‘Is something wrong with me?’ or ‘What am I not doing right?’ when really it’s just your body adjusting,” Alexa added.

In August, both Carlos and Alexa shared an ultrasound photo of their baby boy, announcing both his sex and name.

“Ocean King PenaVega,” wrote the Repo! The Genetic Opera actress next to the adorable profile snap of her son. “We can’t wait to meet this little Blessing. #BabyPenaVega #MyLilMan.”

“We can’t believe we’re having a baby,” the couple told PEOPLE exclusively in June. “Truly, our hearts are exploding with the new blessing we get to experience.”

Though the PenaVegas chose to reveal their baby’s sex and name, it wouldn’t have mattered either way if their first child was a girl or a boy.

“We don’t know yet,” Alexa said in the announcement video. “But whatever it is, it’s perfect.”
