Carl Radke Was ‘Uncomfortable’ With Ex Lindsay Hubbard Questioning His Sobriety
Summer House Season 8 premieres on February 22. Much has happened in real time with the break up of Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard at the end of the summer.
Fans are looking to get some answers from the footage. The cast have also been doing interviews to tease the new season and respond to questions about the trailer. All the interest is explaining why he broke up with Lindsay, three months before their wedding in November 2023.
Carl hopes the scenes could “help people”
Speaking with Page Six, Carl recalled the moment from the trailer when Lindsay asked him, “What are you on? What are you on?” For Carl, who recently celebrated three years of sobriety, that question was very triggering.
“Watching that back, it’s uncomfortable and especially, you know, when you’re in a relationship and that’s being brought up when I’ve been very focused and really trying to stay on track,” he said.
Further, Carl revealed “what led” to his confrontation of Lindsay will be made clear in the season. In that uncomfortable moment, Carl is seen screaming at his ex-fiance, “You accused me of doing drugs!”
“Anybody that knows me knows that alcohol and cocaine were my issues,” he explained to the news publication. “I have not touched those in three years, so cheers to that. I’m proud of that.”
“Unfortunately, it’s going to be something that does get talked about on this season,” Carl said of his sobriety.
Additionally, despite feeling “uncomfortable” about having to defend himself on television, and to his ex, Carl doesn’t regret doing it if it can “help people.”
“Like everything that I talk about openly in my life, I hope that it’s relatable and it helps people. It brings more awareness to conversations, and ultimately, it can just break the stigma around friends that don’t drink or have issues with drugs because I still want to have a good time,” he concluded.
