Carey Mulligan Asked Bradley Cooper 'What Is a Cheesesteak?' and He Gave the Most Mouthwatering Reply

Bradley Cooper is evidently a cheesesteak king — and he’s here to impart all his knowledge on none other than his Maestro costar Carey Mulligan.

While at the premiere of the Netflix film, which Cooper also directed, Mulligan and Cooper discussed his recent stint as a food truck worker in New York. He told Entertainment Tonight that he made 600 cheesesteaks as part of a collaboration with Angelo's Pizzeria.

“What is a cheesesteak?” Mulligan questioned at the start of the ET interview.

Confused if it was “like steak or cheese on steak,” Mulligan turned to the Pennsylvania native for his expert (and delicious!) explanation.

“Well, it’s like a homemade bread, number one, hollowed out. A sliced ribeye, cooper sharp cheese, caramelized onions,” he said. Mulligan responded: “You’re really selling it to me.”

Cooper then revealed that he made “600 of them the other day.”

On Dec. 6, Angelo's Pizzeria, a parlor based in Philadelphia that’s known for classic and creative sandwiches, fried snacks and breakfast options, shared footage of the actor serving up the city’s specialty.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Cooper and Angelo's Pizzeria owner Danny DiGiampietro have partnered together to open Danny and Coops Cheesesteaks.

Cooper told ET of the rough plans, too. “Well, we love these cheesesteaks that Danny [makes at] Angelo’s in Philadelphia. And I love his cheesesteaks and we just talked about doing a food truck or maybe opening up a cheesesteak place in New York, so we decided to spend two days and make cheesesteaks for people,” he explained.

All proceeds from the pop-up event were reportedly donated to a nonprofit organization focused on helping to feed New Yorkers in need.

The Limitless actor’s ex Irina Shayk and their 6-year-old daughter Lea De Seine showed up to support Cooper’s cheesesteak endeavors. Gigi Hadid was spotted at the order window, too.

Lea also accompanied her dad at the Maestro premiere. Cooper smiled from ear to ear as he held on to his daughter's hand while they posed for photos. Lea was dressed in a Dolce & Gabbana leopard print chiffon dress and sparking gold flats and accessorized her fun look with a red purse. As for her father, he attended the event dressed in a dark blue suit.

Maestro will be available to stream on Netflix on Dec. 20. Cooper directed, co-wrote, and stars in the film, playing the late Leonard Bernstein, famed conductor and West Side Story composer.
