Cardi B's Curly Faux Hawk May Be One of Her Best Looks Yet

Cardi B is anything but predictable, especially with her hair. The regular degular schmegular girl from the Bronx is loyal to lace frontals, which allow her to play with with different lengths and colors. One day she's wearing a sleek pastel pink pixie and the next, a crimped orange look with a pompadour. And the styles just keep coming — the rapper's latest is straight out of the '80s with a loose, curly, mullet-y faux hawk that makes her look like she could play Prince's twin in Purple Rain. 

On June 13, Cardi posted a single photo of the new look for her over 90 million followers. She's posed on a staircase dressed in a strong-shoulder black bodysuit with matching thigh-high socks, futuristic sunglasses, and a set of silver chains. This edgy look is to help promote her latest feature, "Type Shit," off the Migos Culture III album, which debuted June 11.

The ‘80s called asking for their hairstyle back, but it appears Cardi's stylist firmly told them no before hanging up the phone! This coif is slicked on the sides and styled into an updo, which creates the illusion of shaved sides. A few ringlets in this faux hawk fall right past her eyes, to frame her face. Of course, who can forget the baby hairs? The rapper's edges were pasted on her forehead in swoops and loops — a modern update to a throwback look.

Cardi is pretty fearless when she's experimenting with her hair and we have to say, these loose curls suit her. With all the late '70s/early '80s hairstyles coming back in fashion, it's nice to see the rapper's take on the latter decade's most ubiquitous coif.
