Cardi B told Jimmy Kimmel the odd reason she doesn’t like to talk politics

Jimmy Kimmel Live is broadcasting from Brooklyn this week, and on Wednesday Kimmel welcomed rapper and new mother Cardi B - born and raised in the Bronx - to the show. The conversation eventually turned to politics and why Cardi doesn’t try to get too involved.“I’ve always been interested in politics but now I gotta, like, be careful what i say you know,” Cardi said. “If I make certain points I be feeling like the government’s gonna say, like, ‘this girl be up to something, we might have to get rid of her.’”Awesome conspiracy theories aside, Cardi did actually publicly encourage millennials to vote at last month’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City. But while she may be hesitant to talk politics all the time, an idea Kimmel brought up about her running for mayor of New York seemed to peak her interest.“It’s something you have to be extremely responsible for. There’s so many things I want to do like, rats. Raccoons. Want to get rid of them,” Cardi said “They’re everywhere. And you know what? Something about the rats, they scared of you. But the raccoons, they not scared of you they just look at you like, ‘why you in my backyard, my garbage?’”Kimmel pointed out that an anti-rat and raccoon platform is actually a pretty strong one to go from in New York City. And with the passion she brings to the topic, it could be a good move.“No seriously,” Cardi said. “It’s really… it’s annoying.”Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 on ABC.
